In North Eastern #Kenya, villagers like Asha Klas Abdullahi have seen an increase in drought frequency and a decrease in rainfall intensity and distribution, as well as more intense rains and floods, including flash floods.

The largest impact on women in Nanighi, Kenya is human and livestock diseases. In response, women have had to work in addition to their other family duties. To cope, they have set up a savings initiative that helps them create small businesses such as mat-making, running small shops and selling tea and milk.

They are hoping to strengthen these initiatives as drought continues. Watch the Nanighi Women’s video at http://bit.ly/qWRWe5
