After her husband was killed during the mujahideen fighting, Homiara fled to Pakistan to secure an education for her daughters. After the fall of the Taliban in2001, she returned to Kabul to find her home and the surrounding neighborhood demolished. Undeterred, Homiara joined a @CARE-sponsored job training program for widows. Within two years, she was able to fund the rebuilding of her home and her daughters’ school tuition.
