C'mon; you know you love solving these "mysteries!" And I am grateful! It is indeed the Uzbekistan & Turkmenistan boarder near Druzhba, northeast of the Caspian Sea! Good job! NASA loves you guys!

Well, it's nice to know that the time spent is actually useful to someone. :)

That „funny“ lake is Kapraz-Kala, the river from left Amu Darya, the city Gazojak.

Occasionally trusting yr own eyes is better. Guess, Clay will make us the joy of lots of such „wrong“ coords pics now …

PC0101 1153 days ago

Time interval between pics is correct, change in coords should be reconstructible.

pamkstewart 1153 days ago

Are you saying the change in coords between pics in a sequence should be fairly accurate?

pamkstewart 1153 days ago

Yes, but these coords put it half way between California and Hawaii...more than a few miles off. :-o

sweetgazer1 1153 days ago

It's 2:30am my time, neurons burning, cudn't find the bloody place, now I see, due to wrong coords..

PC0101 1153 days ago

One misplaced image identified could be used for re-calculating sequences but not enough human resources for that!

PC0101 1153 days ago

Accidental manipulation or long-time non use of a camera lead to such errors, often not noticed for entire sequences of hundreds of pics.

H_P_R_U 1153 days ago

Well then apparently they need a better way of doing it...

PC0101 1153 days ago

Coords are calculated using EXIF time of exposure. Error of 1 sec = 5 miles off; 2 mins = 600 miles!

pamkstewart 1153 days ago

The coords in the cat are just totally off.

pamkstewart 1153 days ago

Nicely done. I had just found the location of ISS015-E-12755, (46.185306°, 73.822430°) So I was in the area.

Clay u can tell NASA I want credit for this 1, pts were WAY off, 8th graders could have done better!

H_P_R_U 1153 days ago

It's Uzbekistan & Turkmenistan boarder by Druzhba, Uzbekistan ~ 41.150985, 61.425078...

H_P_R_U 1153 days ago

I got it down to a lake! Woohoo. Any luck!

H_P_R_U 1153 days ago

I'm glad I'm not the only one scratching my head at JSC... if we find this, they should hire us, geez

PC0101 1153 days ago

NASA is counting on us as they have proposed you pics where all the coords are scrap and JSC is lost too! A mutually rewarding quiz!

Great shot!
