Carson soldier from Pa. killed in Afghanistan The Associated Press FORT CARSON Colo. — The Department of Defense says a 24-year-old Fort Carson soldier from Pennsylvania was killed during a tour in Afghanistan. Military officials said Friday that Sgt. Nathan P. Kennedy was killed April 27 after a small-arms fire attack on his unit near Quarando Village on Tuesday. Kennedy was from Claysville Pa. He was deployed in Iraq from 2006 to 2007 and had begun his tour in Afghanistan on June 2009. He served with Fort Carson’s 2nd Battalion 12th Infantry Regiment 4th Brigade Combat Team 4th Infantry Division. Kennedy received several awards for his service including the Army Commendation Medal the Army Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Operation Enduring Freedom
