Antonio immigrated to Hawaii when he was 18 with his father. It was the late 1990s and the two worked for three years at hotels in Maui saving enough money to help bring the rest of their immediate family to the islands too. “He was our hero our family hero” his sister Arlene Antonio said. “Now he’s everybody’s hero.” Charlie Antonio of Kahului Hawaii Died April 18 in Annassar Iraq of injuries suffered in a non-combat related incident. He was 28 and assigned to Fort Carson Colo. Antonio’s brother Marlon says the soldier joined the Army roughly a year ago. He deployed from Colorado to Kuwait then went to Iraq. Antonio’s family said his brother liked drag racing golf and watching football. Marlon Antonio said his brother also enjoyed watching shows about the military. “He was a good person the best brother anyone could have” he said. “He didn’t drink. He didn’t smoke cigarettes. He just worked a lot.” Charlie Antonio is survived by his brother two sisters and parents Lilia and Demitrio Antonio. Operation Iraqi Freedom
