 of Stanton Texas; assigned to 1st Squadron 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment Fort Polk La.; killed April 17 when his convoy was ambushed in Dwaniyan Iraq.  Soldier with Texas ties killed in Iraq  By Associated Press  MIDLAND Texas — A soldier from Midland and a Fort Hood-based soldier from Wisconsin are among the latest casualties in Iraq.  The family  of Pfc. Clayton Welch Henson20 was notified Sunday  of his death The Midland Reporter-Telegram reported Monday. Henson died while serving in the Second Armored Cavalry Regiment’s 1st Division based out  of Fort Polk La. The military has not released details  of his death.  His stepbrother Lex Lewis said Henson believed the United States was performing a valuable mission in Iraq. He had joined the Army after the Sept. 112001 terrorist attacks.  “Once he said ‘If somebody doesn’t do something about this who’s going to?’ “ Lewis said. “He had a strong sense  of duty.”
