Pedophiles in our Midst: Aust v @HumanHeadline http://bit.ly/hu2rzM http://bit.ly/eHC8oe #auspol #humanrights ... Last week our High Court ruled that 22M Australians must live with the risk of 'career' pedophiles and rapists living in our midsts. we have no constitutional right to know the risks posed by our secret neigbours like these? Of course not. Suppression orders are big business, worth millions of dollars annually (much of it taxpayer funded), for Australia's exclusive and ruling lawyer elite. Lawyers profits and exaulted legal status and privileges must be protected at any costs - even if it means supersizing paedophile's privacy rights and tramping down further on the supposed human rights of ordinary, hardworking, law-abiding citizens. After all, it's not as if paedophiles like these could afford to live in the few exclusive postcodes where lawyers families live, is it? Derryn must be feeling much like the unfortunate Ethiopian lad who discovered in a $5M taxpayer fundend High Court lawyers picnic in 2000 of all the countries and all the professions in the world, Australia is the only country whose 7 top lawyers (by 6:1 majority, Hon Michael Kirby dissenting) ruled that it is illegal to sue lawyers who are negligent in their (courtroom) workplace:http://bit.ly/gjEtEu . Yes 6 out of 7 High Court Judges granted their legal bretheren a common law licence to commit professional negligence with legal impunity - the sort of licence writ large that even James Bond 007 would be envious. Even Justice Michael Kirby's most powerful dissenting judgment that this was a fraud on the Australian constitution and smacked of lawyers making laws self-interested and self-serving their own lawyers class, failed to register on the other 6 Judges. And Michael Kirby had to survive 2 double by-pass operations and, if he hadn't, we Australian's would never have known of his greatest #humanrights deicsion. On that occassion, an innocent young Ethopian immigrant spent almost 2 years in jail, convicted of a rape he didn't commit, convicted due to the negligence of his taxpayer funded Victorian legal aid solicitor and barrister who were held to be above the Australian laws of professional negiligence and therefore could not be sued for compensation. Let's hope Derryn fares better than Mr D'Orta when he (alone of the 7000 Victorians at the Rally on the Steps of Parliament who named them and shamed them paedophiles) faces sentencing in the Mellbourne Magistrates Court at some date in the near future.
