The lamp acts as the only source of light in this food stall, creating a misty effect with the symbol of ‘’Indian’’ customs (lemons and green chillies hanging from a string) complementing its presence. Thus we can say that the light from the lamp acts as a ray of hope for the survival of Indian values in the midst of the surrounding darkness of western culture.
