"The Capitol Center for the Arts shared the Audi’s mission to ensure that the arts are not reserved for the elite. Adjacent to the estate of railroad magnate Benjamin Kimball, the property was sold to the Masons as a gathering area for their breakfasts; the Masons decided to raise revenue with a theater above their dining space. The Capitol Theater opened in 1927, during the heyday of vaudeville, with a neo-Egyptian motif stenciled around the curtains."
From the soon to be released "Crosscurrents of Change."
