I am blessed to be chosen by God, then by my wife. We bleed purple, as KSU is where we met. We are raising four Gospel-centered kids while I pastor LPC.

I was having an experience not unlike many of you during the Holidays; waiting in line. I snapped this picture while in the slowest line at Costco the other day. Words I don't normally say were bubbling up into my mind. How could I be in the slowest #$^&*% line? Then I had a moment of grace in which God managed to slip a word into my consciousness. As I stood in Costco's slow-moving line, I was waiting. Waiting! In a way, I was experiencing exactly what Advent is all about. Though I wasn't waiting for God to save me or anything, I was forced to experience something that's at the heart of Advent. So I decided, right then and there, that I was going to use the experience of waiting in lines as an Advent reminder. I was going to put myself back into the shoes of the Jews who were waiting for the Messiah. And I was going to remember that I too am waiting for Christ to return.
