Beach Day 2 ~ Clamming ~ The water is at least a foot shallower than at the lowest low tide we can remember. Time to turn south towards Barnegat light and take advantage of a little deeper water before we run aground. Walking through the weedy muck east of the sand flats is unpleasant at best. A firmer sandy bottom is only a quarter of a mile ahead.
