Benin, 2010: A girl walks on cinderblocks to avoid floodwater as she exits a fish store in Cotonou, the capital. Widespread flooding has affected over 680,000 people, including 195,000 children, throughout the country. Crop damage and depleted fish stocks have led to concerns about food security, and waterborne diseases are a paramount threat. Some 800 cases of cholera have already been reported.
