A view of the Iberian Peninsula, the Strait of Gibraltar, the Mediterranean, and northern Africa . A special ‘shout out’ to my Ham Radio friends in Spain and Portugal: Fabiano, Paolo and Marco! Looks like a splendid summer afternoon, I am looking forward to our next contact. My very best wishes…

Love the Strait of Gibraltar. When I saw that I knew we were headed home from our Med. cruises.

Very nice pic thanks! I tried connecting with you on Ham Radio tonight but I had only 2 watts to play with on my hand held radio, tomorrow I`m going to have 25 watts so I should not have a problem. Hope to talk to you soon 73`s.

The white peninsula that you see at the east of the strait are actually greenhouses. That is, a man-made structure visible from space, remember that the Great Wall not so easily seen.

The present condition is about 5.3 million years old, before the Mediterranean had been a dry salt lake. Opening and closing have repeated frequently during the geological past.

PC0101 621 days ago

The strait will close again in a couple of million years and the complete Mediterranean would be evaporated within approx. 1000 years only.
