Michael Jackson at Gardner Street Elementary School (HELP UNCOVER MJ'S NAME!) Michael Jackson was a 6th grade student In Gardner Elementary School in Hollywood, California in 1970. The 11-year-old; Michael attended class here in the daytime and performed as an emerging musical superstar at night, with his family group "The Jackson Five." October 11, 1989- Gardner Street Elementary named the school auditorium after its most famous alumni as a gift to him. Gleaming silver letters across the front of the building now read: "The Michael Jackson Auditorium" ; Michael himself showed up for the unveiling. In return, Jackson sort of adopted his old school; he paid the salary for the school's music teacher, he planted memorial rose bushes near the playground, and even left his famous signature on the wall of his old 6th grade schoolroom. But in 2003, shortly after Jackson faced a second round of child molestation allegations, some parents in the community demanded his name be covered up — a demand that was satisfied by the school’s principal at the time, as well as the Los Angeles Unified School District. For six years, the sign on the building has read simply, “Auditorium.” On paper — on playbills for school plays, for example — it is referred to as Gardner Street Elementary Auditorium. We, Michael Jackson Fans, cannot let this injustice to continue. THIS IS IT! We need to help uncover MJ's name. An online petition has been started by the Germany-based www.mjjsupport.com, directly aimed at having Jackson’s name uncovered. Currently, The Uncover MJ's name Team, are also asking for the support and help of all the Michael Jackson fans worldwide. Let's help them to convince the school district to take down the covers and reveal his name once more to the public. This group is working so hard.
